Capetown to host grand opening Nov. 3

CAPETOWN, Fla. (Oct. 17, 2018) – Capetown completes the $19 million Capetown Aquatic Center after a nine-month construction period. The city will hold a grand opening on Nov. 3.

The center includes a 50-meter Olympic-sized pool, which is meant to bring major swimming completions and drive sports tourism to Capetown. The Capetown Aquatic Center will also include a family pool and splash area for the both adults and children living in the community, a maintenance facility and administration building.

“Residents in Capetown are excited to have this facility,” said Mayor Samantha Winters. “I hope that this center will not only benefit the community but attract tourists and swim leagues to use this center and visit Capetown.”

The city will host a grand opening event at 9 a.m. on Nov. 3. Olympic gold-medalist, Michael Phelps, will participate. Phelps, along with 10 members of the Capetown High School swim team, will lead the ribbon cutting and practice in the competition pool afterward.
