Lee County Wildlife Federation showcases bald eagles, Jack and Jill

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Oct. 10, 2018) – Lee County Wildlife Federation has launched a web-cam that provides viewers a live look at bald eagles, Jack and Jill. The eagles, Jack and Jill, were both injured when they were struck by a car. Jack had an injured tail and Jill had an injured right wing. Jack and Jill have mated and are currently caring for three eggs in their nest.

“I believe that this camera will inspire the local community to learn more about the environment,” said Tom Joseph, executive at Heritage Bank. “I hope with this addition more people will come down to watch the eagles and enjoy their time here and appreciate the beauty.

The federation cares for rehabilitated animals with funding from grants and donations. Over the past two years donations have decreased 9 percent. The federation has depended on a federal grant to cover expenses. That grant expires in April. The federation needs to raise additional funds through donations to keep the sanctuary open.
